Introduction

This is going to be kind of a weird blog because it will have to include a variety of topics you might not automatically expect to see together. This is because it’s a personal story that will go where it needs to go, rather than anything planned out for a certain topic (like a blog about gardening, etc.), and it’s basically covering a period of my life as opposed to being about any one thing. Or maybe it only seems “weird” to me, because I don’t normally do much journaling, and the websites I go to are usually about one or two things rather than anything like this. I guess if you’re more used to personal story blogs this might not seem all that odd to you though.

The most obvious first question is what I mean by transcending. My blog’s tagline, as you can see up above, reads:

Follow my journey as I recover from illness, find my way out of a tough situation, and transcend to a stronger and better version of myself.

I am currently regaining my health, attempting to achieve financial independence, and getting in touch with my spiritual side, all goals that will help me become a stronger and happier person. This blog is where I will share the story of my progress and accomplishments.

Why Write This, Though?

I’m honestly not fond of sharing my feelings on a lot of things. But in this case, I figured it couldn’t hurt, and might actually be helpful.

For one thing, I’m trying to do… a lot, right now. This blog will help me keep track of it, what worked, and what didn’t work. I’ve been keeping notes on my laptop but I’m starting to feel like there’s too much to keep organized in that way (basically just a load of text files). Posting it online will mean I can categorize and index things in ways that are just as convenient for me as they are for anyone reading. It’ll be a form of online recordkeeping, accessible to both me and anyone interested.

Also, it will keep me accountable. Even without any readers I’m going to feel weird if I do something significant and then fail to write it down. If I find out people are actually reading this thing, even better, because that’s going to feel very motivating!

And finally, I do feel that there’s a chance that what I share in this blog may help someone else. Not every topic in here might be “for you,” but something probably will be (at the least, money is part of it, and money is something everyone needs). I guess the odds aren’t impossible that someone could want to go on the same journey as I am and do the same things, even if they’re not in the same situation, so I’m open to that idea too — if you happen to share all the interests I’m writing about in this blog, even better!

You Might Enjoy Reading This Blog If…

You’re looking for alternate ways to make money besides having a full-time job.

  • No get-rich-quick schemes are involved (because they don’t work), and it’s definitely true that you can’t replace a full-time job with any one of the money-making solutions I’m going to explore, but you can make a decent amount if you do several of them together. The plan is to have a lot of small revenue streams coming in, and my monetary goal is to turn almost nothing into a good amount. You might also find it fun to read about someone starting from (almost) zero dollars and following along with me as I try, succeed, and sometimes fail to make it grow.

You want to make some money for yourself and keep it a secret from someone you live with.

  • Yeah, this one sounds a bit loaded. There are actually several reasons someone might want to have “secret” money, though. On the pleasant end of the spectrum, you might want to save up for a big surprise for your spouse, parents, or whoever else might be able to see your usual finances. On the painful side, you may need to keep money safe from someone who would otherwise take it. Maybe this person is simply irresponsible or perhaps you’re in a full-blown abusive situation. I’ll explain my own situation shortly, but let’s just say it’s incredibly oppressive without being outright abusive (at least, I don’t think it is… if it is, it’s financial/emotional abuse which is harder to subjectively identify). I’ll include all the information I can about how easy it is to hide any accounts and moneymaking methods I write about here. If you need to secretly build up finances to escape an abusive situation then I’d be overjoyed if I can help you. (My firsthand experience won’t be able to cover every possible solution, but for the sake of helping others I’ll investigate as thoroughly as I can.)
  • Teenagers trying to earn money (whether to escape or to become independent) might find some good information too, but a lot of things require you to be 18+ before you can make an account. Some at least require parental permission if you’re below 18. If possible I’ll include some alternatives teenagers can use or at the least include the minimum age for things so you can figure out what works for you. I really hate being in a situation where every penny I make is monitored and controlled, and nobody should be forced into that even if they’re young. Not every parent has their kids’ best interest in mind and not every teenager is irresponsible with money or their future. I would have LOVED to have these opportunities back then.

You want to get into better shape both physically and mentally.

  • Again I’ll explain more later, but I went through a health crisis that left me completely out of shape and physically weak. In my case I became extremely skinny, but my journey to fitness might still be helpful to someone regardless of weight. My goal is to gain strength and endurance that will improve my daily functioning and hopefully extend my lifespan and keep me young(ish), but I won’t necessarily stop there — I have an interest in martial arts too as a means of self-improvement and preparedness.

You want to learn magick or read about someone else’s journey with using magick to improve their life.

  • Right, it wouldn’t surprise me if at this point you stopped and thought “Wait, what? Did I really just read that?” and yes, you did just read that. If you’re a skeptical person, hopefully I didn’t lose you at this point, because believe it or not I’m also a skeptical person. But I have read and experienced some things that made me feel that magick is worth investigating. Considering how much of it involves entering a positive mindset, that will probably help even if it does nothing else. Feel free to read along whether to learn or to laugh at me, I don’t mind. And if you get curious enough to try something on your own, you’ll know where to start (and I won’t tell anyone!). On the other hand, if you’re a magickally inclined person yourself, this blog might be even more up your alley than you thought.

So What’s the Backstory?

I’ve already explained why I’m writing this blog, but I haven’t shared any details on my health issues, home situation and difficulties, or any other background. Those were originally going to be part of this introduction, but the blog entry was getting so long that I decided it would be best to split it. Besides, I also have actual news to share regarding some money I’ve made within the past couple of weeks, and I kept feeling like “I should finish the introduction before I add more” and it’s just going to take too long. So I’ll write about my situation and background in a future post, and in the meantime I can get right to sharing actual information with you.

Thanks for reading!
